What is your relationship to possibility? Take a second now, after reading that word and notice what comes up for you. What little voices pipe up. What are they saying? And notice how your body might be responding to these voices. Who are the voices? Are they yours or someone else's? Is there an inner saboteur or inner critic constantly narrating your entire life, keeping you captive from even contemplating the feeling of possibility?
I was listening to a wonderful podcast called, The Creative Path hosted by Adam Roa and he was interviewing Peter Crone. If you've never come across Peter Crone's work, I highly recommend! Peter was discussing the fact that we are all limitless beings, full of potential and part of our work in life is to uncover the limitations that are holding us back from experiencing this limitless self. Hearing these words, something within me stirred, like an ancient remembering of my potential. What a beautiful gift.
Perhaps you're wondering, well that sounds very nice, but how on earth do I uncover everything that's holding me back? There are many ways, of course! Part of that journey is finding teachers, healing modalities and self-care rituals that resonate with you and keeping an open mind as you explore. For me, Root Cause Therapy has been an unbelievable discovery.
I want to share an experience I had in a session I received. The belief we chose to work on was, "I'm not good enough". My practitioner, Georgina, guided me into my meditative state and asked my unconscious mind, when was the first time I ever experienced this belief, was it before, during of after birth? Immediately, before my mind even had a chance to catch up, I said before birth. And how many generations ago? Seven. So Georgina guided my unconscious mind back to that event 7 generations ago down my paternal ancestral line. As soon as I got there, the images began to form, the feelings began to erupt in my body and we began the process of discerning and excavating. One by one, we moved through each emotion, feeling each one to completion, digging underneath each one to see what else we could uncover, like an my own archaeological site. Once we had processed everything that was lingering from that event, 7 generations ago, we sat in the event and received the insights and lessons from this new, clearer perspective.
Now, this is where it gets even more amazing! Once we had received what we need to receive from the event, Georgina brought me back to the present moment, only as quickly as every related event to the belief, flashed up along the way. I took my time, catching glimpses or physical sensations on the journey back to the present moment. One image struck me, because it was so vivid. It was an image of someone committing suicide with a gun. It rattled me quite a bit. I had no idea what it meant or who it could have been.
A few days after the session, I spoke with my Dad and told him all about it (he's very into all of this work, too!) So I asked, "Dad, has anyone in our family ever committed suicide?" To which he responded... Yes. It was his uncle, who had sadly, committed suicide with a gun. I had no idea. I got goosebumps and my Dad and I both could not believe how uncanny this experience had been. This was the moment that I knew how powerful this work is. It confirmed for me, how connected we are to our ancestry through emotions, beliefs, patterns, all of it passed down. The memories of ancestors continue to echo and reverberate in our own lives. We hold all of it.
There have been so many times in my life that I've carried so many heavy emotions and felt the restraint of beliefs that never felt like mine. And now I know, they never really were. This is the power of this work. Don't get me wrong, it's no walk in the park, but the journey through the heaviness and muddiness is absolutely worth it.
If you're curious to learn more about this work and to step into the world of possibilities, I would love to connect with you.
With love,
Katey
